Aloha, I’m Capt. Ron — Proud Steward of this Naval Treasure
Preserving a Living Piece of Naval History: The Admiral’s Gig
Custom-built for the U.S. Navy and reserved exclusively for our nation’s top-ranking commanders.
Served the Seventh Fleet in the Philippines and Japan before becoming the Admiral’s Barge at Pearl Harbor. Over her decades of service, she has hosted three sitting U.S. Presidents, quietly bearing witness to countless moments of dedication and sacrifice. Today, she rests as a silent, powerful testament to our American naval heritage.
Fom the Front Lines to the Fenders: A New Mission
My connection to service runs deep. After 30 years in uniform—with service across the Marine Corps, Army National Guard, and Army Reserve, including multiple deployments—I retired from the military in 2022. I immediately took on a new mission: to restore this historic Admiral’s Barge to her original, magnificent glory.
My vision is to restore her not just as a showpiece, but as a symbol with purpose. She is destined to be a museum centerpiece, a historical outreach platform, and a powerful, mobile tribute to all who have worn the uniform. She will continue to tell the story of American resilience and pride for future generations.
Join thestoration Effort
I am seeking partners who understand the importance of preserving living history—whether through a museum partnership, a nonprofit initiative, or the generosity of individuals and businesses. Every contribution counts toward bringing this storied vessel back to life:
- Financial Support: Every dollar funds critical hull repair, engine restoration, and historical documentation.
- Volunteer Expertise: We need skilled labor, from fiberglass technicians to marine mechanics.
- Material Donations: Contributions of marine-grade materials, hardware, and specialized equipment are essential.
Together, we can ensure this Admiral’s Barge returns to the water as a floating monument to honor, value, and our shared American traditions.
A Life of Service: Capt. Ron Angel (Ret.)

Presidential Moments Aboard a Naval Legacy
Admiral’s Barge – Hull No. 40PE683
When I first acquired this vessel, I had no idea just how deep her legacy ran. I knew she was special — but I didn’t know she had carried Presidents of the United States.
This Admiral’s Barge, built in 1968, has served as a distinguished transport for three U.S. Presidents during significant moments in our nation’s history — making her a rare and living artifact of American leadership and honor.
1. President George H. W. Bush
On December 7, 1991, the 50th Anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor, President George H. W. Bush and First Lady Barbara Bush were transported aboard this very barge. They were hosted by ADM Charles R. Larson, Commander in Chief, U.S. Pacific Command, for solemn ceremonies honoring the fallen.
2. President Bill Clinton
On July 11, 1993, President Bill Clinton and First Lady Hillary Clinton boarded this historic vessel en route to a memorial ceremony aboard the USS Arizona (BB-39). Once again, ADM Charles R. Larson hosted the event, underscoring the barge’s role in high-profile moments of remembrance.
3. President George W. Bush
On October 23, 2003, President George W. Bush and First Lady Laura Bush were escorted aboard the barge by ADM Thomas B. Fargo, Commander, U.S. Pacific Command. Their visit included the retired battleship USS Missouri (BB-63) and the USS Arizona Memorial. As they passed, sailors aboard the USS Bremerton (SSN-698) rendered honors — a powerful tribute to the Commander-in-Chief aboard this historic craft.
